Heritage’s Research and Grants Centre (RGC) hosted a three-day Write Shop for faculty and staff under the theme “Harnessing AI to Write Academic Papers.” The event was facilitated by Prof. Mary Immaculate Sheela Lourdusamy, Lecturer, Department of Informatics, who is a renowned authority on the intersection of artificial intelligence and academic writing.
The three-day workshop drew faculty members and researchers eager to explore how AI can revolutionize the academic writing process. Prof. Lourdusamy’s sessions were designed to cover every aspect of writing a scholarly paper, from generating compelling titles to accurate referencing. Participants were introduced to an array of AI tools, each demonstrated live, allowing them to see firsthand how these technologies could enhance their writing efficiency and quality.
Prof. Lourdusamy’s approach was both practical and interactive. She encouraged participants to engage with the tools during the sessions, offering real-time feedback and personalized guidance. This hands-on experience was a highlight for many, as it provided a clear pathway from learning about AI tools to implementing them in their academic work.
As the Write Shop concluded, the RGC expressed optimism that participants would soon apply their newfound skills to produce publishable work. The center is confident that by September, many of the attendees will have advanced their research projects significantly, thanks to the tools and insights gained from the workshop.
Heritage Christian University College continues to lead in integrating cutting-edge technology into academic research and writing. The successful Write Shop is evidence to the university’s dedication to equipping its faculty and researchers with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving academic landscape.
The RGC remains committed to providing ongoing support and resources to ensure that the university’s faculty can harness the full potential of AI in their scholarly pursuits.
