Information Technology is at the heart of all modern economies and all indications are that it will continue to play a decisive role in future economies. It has become pervasive and ubiquitous affecting people’s lives in many unimaginable ways a decade or two ago. All major global economies are now becoming knowledge based economies. Such economies of the future will be computing intensive. The workforce must therefore be prepared with the technological skills to be effective players.
Information Technology is the one discipline capable of providing the knowledge base for the economies of the future. This programme aims to prepare the key players for economies of the future and to provide the research base for the development of the technical expertise that will be required.
The BSc. IT programme is a four-year programme of 8 semesters, which aims to equip graduates with a strong theoretical foundation and broad technical skills to take on appropriate professional positions in Information Technology, to develop and apply Information Technology in organizations and society, grow into leadership positions or pursue research or graduate studies in the fields of Computing and Information Technology.
