The Bachelor of Science in Midwifery programme is designed to assist students in developing in-depth understanding and expertise in the field of Midwifery. The focus is to enable midwives to contribute significantly to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality rates, and to promote optimal quality of life of people.

The aims of the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery programme are to:

  • produce competent professional midwives who will demonstrate high level of knowledge, skills, attitude and technology in the provision of quality midwifery services in clinical and community settings.
  • produce midwives who will embark on empirical research that contributes to the body of midwifery knowledge.
  • produce competent midwives who will be able to collaborate with other health workers to offer quality midwifery services in healthcare facilities and to communities.
  • equip students with the relevant entrepreneurial skills and support that are relevant to the midwifery profession through the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy and Ethics (CEPE).
